Kidney or ureteral stones

Women may experience kidney or ureteral stones and these may sometimes pass into the ureter tube between the kidney and bladder.

This is often very painful and if it occurs may cause kidney damage or infection and can require urgent treatment, most commonly due to severe pain.

It is usually possible to break up or remove stones either by using shock waves to break up the stone or by using a tiny telescope to locate and destroy the stone with laser energy.
