To all of the patients past, present and future who may be uncertain about how the current Coronavirus outbreak may affect Urology clinical services. I am writing to help you to make sense of a rapidly changing world.
As you may be aware the Tunbridge Wells Urology outpatient appointments and elective surgery service which is mainly based at Spire Hospital Tunbridge Wells has been severely reduced to provide urgent capacity to the NHS and to allow Alastair Henderson to play his part as a NHS Surgeon working at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust and supporting the COVID response.
We expect that the next few weeks will be difficult for all of us whether we are social distancing at home, volunteering, or indeed working in key industries such as healthcare, supply chain and many more too numerous to mention and indeed for patients.
Some of you who have less serious health problems may find that there is a need to reschedule follow up appointments or even delay treatment for less urgent conditions and whilst we apologise for any disruption or change to appointments I am sure that you will understand that frontline doctors are being asked at short notice to change their NHS commitments and support the delivery of urgent NHS cancer care and also the COVID treatment teams which are working hard to deliver extra intensive care capacity over the next few weeks.
We are making every effort to talk to impacted patients and apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. If you have a scheduled outpatient appointment you may be offered a phone appointment or to delay your appointment in order to avoid unnecessary person-person contact and as soon as this national crisis is over we will aim to resume normal services.
If you are uncertain about how to proceed and you are a new or existing private patient of Mr Henderson please speak to Jayne or other members of the team on 01892-740037 where messages are still being managed or by emailing email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org
The Spire Healthcare contact number is 01892-740047.
If you are an NHS patient of Mr Henderson then you can contact his NHS secretaries on 01622-225769 or email@example.com / firstname.lastname@example.org and this office also remains manned, it is best to use both emails in the address line as they job-share.
